Monoprint

Hey!
I experimented with several printing techniques. Have you ever tried out monoprinting? I printed on paper first and then I tried it with fabric (organic of course). It was so much fun to try out something new. I showed the final pieces at the KKV Göteborg during  Konstrundan I Majorna 2017. Have a look:

You can take a look at the project on Behance too.

I printed on  heavy ecru organic cotton (300g/m2). Every print is a unique piece and I just love them. I want to set up a web shop for the cushion covers but it it difficult to sell them. I will try again! They are made with care, love and passion. If you are interested in one of them, don´t hesitate to contact me :)

Handpainted fabric - cushion cover DIY

Hej!
As you know I print on fabric. I use screenprint or I make templates/ stencils, sometimes I color the fabric before. This time I just painted on the fabric with a stencil brush. I worked with a dry brush, that means you don't dip it in water but only in the colour. This way the bristle strokes are visible and I like the rough appearance of it.

The one on the first picture is my favourite and I made a cushion cover out of this fabric. You can do it too, it's very simple :)

You need:
Black textile paint
stencil brush
fabric

How to:
Wash & iron the fabric and place it on a table. Put newspapers or an old cloth under it. You can tape the fabric at the edges with masking tape, so it doesn't slip. Dip the brush into the color and start drawing. Do 3-4 brushstrikes or even more. The brushstroke gets more interesting with less colour. Do a test on a little piece of fabric before.
Fix the colour according to the manual. Now you can sew whatever you like, here is my finished product:

Update

Hej
I updated my webpage. Please take a look, you can find a lot of new designs and examples of my work:

Printing Session

Hej! I printed the whole day yesterday at the Konstnärnas Kollektiv here in Göteborg. I showed you some pictures already, it's such a great place! They are looking for more members, you can apply with your portfolio here. So if you are a designer or artist and live in Göteborg: check this place out! I highly recommend it! Here you can see  sneak peek of the new cushion collection I am working on:

Do you like what you see?

Black and White II

Hej! I finished my new portfolio lately. A lot of black, white and grey. I love colours, but I needed a challenge and I wanted to keep it it simple. The portfolio was a lot digital editing and it made me tired to just sit by the computer. So at home I printed and painted to get a feeling for colour, structure and texture. I want to print a black & white collection for Nordic Design Collective. It took me some time to find organic cotton and I even thought about printing on cotton that is not ecofriendly. Second thought: No way!

Here you can see some of my test prints:

I will tell you more about my little containers soon. I would love to produce the Big Bag in a larger quantity, but it is not possible yet. It is a great bag, you can put a lot of stuff in it ;)

Hej!

This is a new pattern, how do you like it?
   I updated my webpage: www.schmalenbachnina.com
   Take a look!

The shoe print! Today I transferred a drawing of my shoe onto a screen and printed half of the kids shirt...The back side will follow. I think it looks very funny! What do you think? By the wy, the shirt is made of organic cotten and soon you can buy it at Friends of Form in Göteborg!

Watercolour & a hint of neon

Back to watercolour!
I bought some new masking fluid and now it's even more fun to paint.

Although I often redecorate the apartment, I still can find hints of neon everywhere. It' s not  over yet. I am working on a little series of pillows with neonpink drops. Oh yeah!

Bubble print

Pia and me made some Bubble prints!
If you want to try it:
Pour bubble solution onto a bottom of a plate and mix it with watersoluble paint.
Blow some bubbles with a straw and touch them with a sheet of paper.
