Print party

I met Jacob Nyberg at the print studio here in Göteborg. He is a swedish artist working with a lot of different materials. In the studio he is printing large format artworks on paper or wood. Before he prints different layers of organic forms he paints on the paper/canvas/wood to create abstract surfaces. I took some picture of his work in progress and I would like to show you:

Jacob had the idea to meet and work together. I am looking forward to this little print party. We have met last weekend and I think it' s inspiring to see how he works with screens and colour. I realized that I could work more spontanious and stop limiting myself...why shouldn't I uses textile colour on paper or just try any other color? Yes, I could destroy a screen if the colour dries to fast or is too thick but I could also create something new and different. It' s good to get messy sometimes!

As you probably now I am printing a lot of new cushion covers. Here is a little sneak peak...  I hope I can sew the others this week and release them in my webshop! You can see the paperprint on the wall too. I am printing a lot on paper lately...

DIY NEWS

 Hej!
My bubble print diy was featured in the German magazine Eigenwerk! This issue is all about paper and it is filled with a lot of diy projects.

Another project of mine was featured here. It' s my 5-min cushion cover print-project.
I printed a cushion cover for my sister this weekend. Very simpel, just dots in 2 different sizes and colours:

To give it a personal touch I made the most simpel label and sewed it in. It's just a piece of white cotten , folded and printed with an E (for Elena). I used a wooden rubber stamp for it:

This is another cushion cover I printed and sewed last weekend:

That's it for now! Sun is shining, it' s a wonderful day! I saw the first cranes coming back from the south this morning! It made me so happy :)
Have a nice day!

Black and White II

Hej! I finished my new portfolio lately. A lot of black, white and grey. I love colours, but I needed a challenge and I wanted to keep it it simple. The portfolio was a lot digital editing and it made me tired to just sit by the computer. So at home I printed and painted to get a feeling for colour, structure and texture. I want to print a black & white collection for Nordic Design Collective. It took me some time to find organic cotton and I even thought about printing on cotton that is not ecofriendly. Second thought: No way!

Here you can see some of my test prints:

I will tell you more about my little containers soon. I would love to produce the Big Bag in a larger quantity, but it is not possible yet. It is a great bag, you can put a lot of stuff in it ;)

Watercolour & a hint of neon

Back to watercolour!
I bought some new masking fluid and now it's even more fun to paint.

Although I often redecorate the apartment, I still can find hints of neon everywhere. It' s not  over yet. I am working on a little series of pillows with neonpink drops. Oh yeah!

KKV - Impressions I

Last weekend I was in Göteborg and participated in a screenprint course at the KKV (Konstnärernas Kollektivverkstad). KKV/Konstnärernas Kollektivverkstad Göteborg is an organization for professional artists, designers and craftsmen. It is an impressing building next to the ocean!

The course was held by Alexandra Hedberg and it was a lot of fun. I know how to print on textiles, but to print on paper is quite a different matter.

 First prints

Hello Thermal-copier!

I have a thermal-copier now! It is an easy way to make screens for screen print. Well, I still have to figure out which copies work best. I also have a china-marker and chinese ink, with them I can paint and draw on white paper, take the right size of the mesh and insert the "sandwich" in the copier. Now the screen is nearly ready, it just needs to be taped on a frame. This also works with black and white copies, but they have to be lasercopies and it depends on the brand of the printer how good it works. So here I need to experiment a lot. If you want to know more about the thermal-copier click here.

-Mr ersson and me had fun at our first printing session. It did not really work out with the  skull though...
Soon more!
